![]() You need to look away from your privilege and realize there’s a major time cost involved in making these apps. ![]() I think it has a lot of potential and would be very helpful to many artists like myself. If you ever decide to update your app and make it more functional, I would love to use it again. It would be a bit of a pain to some, but I don't mind watching ads for apps that I love to use and serve their purpose(especially ones that do it well). If you were to put additional captures behind ad walls so for instance watching an ad and then getting 5 more captures, I would definitely continue using your app. The ICloud Sync feature I feel shouldn't be behind a pay wall either, it's a complete pain, but at least it doesn't make it unusable and pointless to download. Making the Image Pallet Stickers, Alternate App Icons, and Random Gradients behind a pay wall makes sense, they're additions that won't take away from the main function, the apps purpose, and the apps general functionality. If you want someone to buy your app, make it $1.99 to download it instead. To put out a free app and then make the users pay for the main feature is ridiculous. I was only able to try the features a couple times before the pop up came up saying that if I would like to continue I needed to purchase Neon Pro to be able to capture unlimited colors and gradients. ![]() The app itself seems amazing and as an artist I would use it daily if the option was available. My rating would've been higher if I was actually able to use the app. Using the power of AI powered by OpenAI (ChatGPT) you can generate gorgeous color palettes. Try it today and start capturing the world in stunning color! With its advanced color recognition technology, powerful editing tools, and seamless sharing capabilities, Neon is the perfect app for designers, artists, and anyone who loves color. ![]() You can even export your designs to use as backgrounds for your phone or computer. You can share your color palettes and gradients to social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and more. Neon also makes it easy to share your creations with the world. You can then export your bucket as a wallpaper, which looks absolutely gorgeous and will be sure to impress your friends and followers. This allows you to create a custom color palette with all of your favorite colors and gradients. ![]() One of the standout features of Neon is the ability to pick multiple colors into a bucket. This makes it easy to find the perfect shade or color combination for your projects. You can adjust the saturation, brightness, and hue of any color, as well as view the RGB, HEX, and CMYK values. With Neon, you can edit and get elaborate information about the colors and gradients you capture. You can also capture gradients, allowing you to create beautiful transitions between colors for your designs. Simply point your camera at the object or scene you want to capture, and Neon will instantly pick up the color and add it to your palette. How can you deny the fun of something like this? You can’t I say! The rest of Deadly Prey is littered with awesomely bad moments like these ones. No way he was hiding that grenade on his person. Where did he get this grenade from? He literally just escaped from being tied up and is only wearing tiny little cutoff jeans. This means Danton placed a grenade in this dude’s pants. The only thing left are his boots which now have smoke emitting from them. The goon looks confused for a moment before blowing up. We see Danton reach into the goon’s pants and then dive for cover. This allows Danton to escape and when he does he’s approached by one of Hogan’s goons. Like most movie villains Hogan leaves Danton tied up alone for a while. And why wouldn’t he, Danton is the man! Danton will have none of it though, because dammit he has morals and ethics! No, instead he tries to convince Danton to join his team. When Hogan finds out Danton is the man they kidnapped he doesn’t want to kill him at first. While Jaimy’s Dad is sleuthing it up, Danton gets captured again but not before he takes out a handful of Hogan’s men. How did he find it? Why isn’t there any answers? In his defense they are, but how in the world does he know that? Also I think the training base was a secret location. Once on the scene Jaimy’s Dad is very sneaky. Why does he start there? I thought maybe it’s because Danton was a Vietnam vet and so maybe he’s starting there for assistance but no. In effort to track down Danton Jaimy’s Dad immediately heads out to this military training facility. Even if you don’t say his name in the movie it seems like you would have given him one in the script. This is interesting because his role is fairly large. We never learn his name and I’m pretty sure he’s just credited as Jaimy’s Dad. No call is placed to the proper authorities. Furthermore when Jaimy does finally call someone it’s her Dad (Mitchell). I’m not sure how long it would take for me to be concerned that my significant other didn’t come back from taking out the trash, but I’m fairly certain that it would be less than a couple of hours. Jaimy (Suzanne Tara), Danton’s girlfriend, doesn’t get concerned until later that evening. As far as I could tell this was occurring fairly early in the morning. I can’t understand how someone would think these things up and then read them over and say, “Yeah, that’s a good idea.” First let’s start with the scene where Danton gets kidnapped. There are so many moments in this film that made me stop and scratch my head. There is a decent amount of time spent just waiting to get to the next insane scene. What I mean by that is while it does offer up some crazy moments that will leave you howling, there is a lot of fat and filler that is kind of boring. It’s not as crazy and fun as something like Miami Connection, but fairs more favorably to the likes of R.O.T.O.R. Prior was trying to make a good movie and it just didn’t work out. Prior (brother to Ted) had the best intentions. There’s a certain charm to it and director David A. Still I think the movie offers up a lot of fun. The premise is bad, the acting is mostly bad, even that from the film’s few veterans in Troy Donahue and Cameron Mitchell, and the special effects leave a lot to be desired. Thornton (Fritz Matthews), a worthy opponent to Danton. It won’t be easy as the man leading Hogan’s team is Lt. What happens next is a cat and mouse game as Danton tries to take out Hogan and his team before they can kill him. What the men don’t know is that Danton was also trained by Hogan and was actually the best student he ever had. ![]() ![]() The plan is to hunt them as part of military training they are receiving from Col. The men take Danton out to a wooded area and release him. Anyway, one morning while taking out the trash Danton is attacked and kidnapped by some men in a van. ![]() He spends the majority of the film in nothing but cutoff jeans. ![]() Prior is absolutely ripped and the movie definitely wants the audience to know this. Ted Prior stars as Mike Danton, an extremely muscular Vietnam vet. I want to be very clear and say this is not a good movie. ![]() ![]() But the sort of more naïve attempt to just do it goes back with me a very long way.Īnd then I ended up writing this column for The Guardian for so many years that it was sort of with me. And I sort of, I think this - my more recent work and most recent book is sort of about the disillusionment with this kind of attempt to neatly organize and control time and life. And I was always the person with the really beautifully designed exam-preparation timetables - whether I actually was any good at the exam preparation is a separate question, but, you know, the person with the multi-colored felt tip pens and all the rest of that. Oliver Burkeman: Well, a long time ago when I was still at school, I started to be the kind of person who was always looking around for systems of organizing my time. Do you think that emerged from that early life? Where did that come from, or when, how did that start emerging? ![]() Well, I feel like Time Management is a very - is almost a misleading title for this book that you’ve written, because it really is about great, existential questions of meaning. In terms of his early formation around time, he says he relates to an Onion article with the headline: “Dad Suggests Arriving At Airport 14 Hours Early.” He was raised, as he says, “non-spiritual” Quaker, on one side of his family, and also has a Jewish lineage with a background of narrow escape from the Holocaust. Oliver Burkeman’s newest book is Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals. I’m Krista Tippett, and this is On Being. Where he went next is the conversation I have with him this hour: deep into a philosophical, spiritual, and practical investigation of all that is truly at stake in what we blithely refer to as “time management.” This conversation extends an invitation to nothing less than a new relationship with time and our technologies and the power of limits - and thus with our mortality and with life itself. And he himself became a time management and productivity “geek,” until one day, sitting on a bench in Brooklyn, he grasped that no one achieves perfect work–life balance - that in the end, even the most privileged of us rarely get around to doing the most important things. In his longtime column for The Guardian, and books with subtitles like Happiness for People Who Can’t Stand Positive Thinking, my guest Oliver Burkeman has long interrogated the possibilities for absurdity in self-help while also honoring the real and deep human longings it meets. ![]() At this time of year, many of us are making plans and resolutions, treating time as we’ve been taught: as part taskmaster, part resource - something we could fit everything we want into, if only we had the discipline. ![]() Krista Tippett, host: What is time? The pathogen causing bacterial blight of cotton infects the crop passively that is the bacteria exploit natural openings, such as stomates, hydathodes and lenticels, and wounds to the plant, such as those formed by blowing sand in windstorms. Today there is not an easy way to tell the race type affecting cotton in Georgia however disease samples are being sent so that as new techniques are developed, we can have a better idea of race structure of XCM in the state and nation. This is important to know because if a shift in races occurs, e.g., a new race other than Race 18 is dominant, then we could see a change in the aggressiveness of the bacterial pathogen and also could see a collapse of previously “resistant” varieties. The term “race” means a form of the pathogen that will infect susceptible varieties of cotton but not those with resistance to “Race 18”. Additionally, for a number of years, it is believed that the predominant form of XCM present in our cotton fields is “Race 18”. The addition of “pv malvacearum” is nomenclature that this form of the bacterial pathogen is very specific in the species of plants it will affect, likely only cotton. The causal agent of bacterial blight is Xanthomonas citrii pv malvacearum (XCM), a pathogen whose name has changed several times over the past 125 years. Without question, bacterial blight is a more important problem for cotton growers in Georgia than it has been in a number of years. This is not meant to diminish the importance of the disease, but rather an attempt to keep the current impact of the disease in proper perspective. But I believe that in a significant effort to document where the disease is today, we may be finding symptoms at very low levels that could have been there in the past as well. Quite the contrary, for it was they who brought this disease to the forefront for growers. ![]() This does not mean in any way that agents, consultants and scouts were not diligent in previous seasons. Second, we (in a general sense with consultants often in the lead) are scouting and looking much harder for bacterial blight than we have in the past. It is known that other varieties are susceptible to this disease as well. First, in 2015 growers planted a highly susceptible variety, DPL 1454 B2RR which clearly sustained losses to bacterial blight. Certainly two things have changed as of the 2015 season. When bacterial blight is not severe, symptoms may be difficult to detect as time and energy are focused on more important concerns. Although not commonly reported since I started in 2000 I have seen examples of the disease, to include leaf spots and infected bolls, over the years. Whatever the reason, appreciation is expressed to the consultants, Extension agents and growers who have worked very hard over the past two seasons to document the impact and spread of this disease.īacterial blight is not a new disease to cotton in Georgia and was likely in some of our fields even before this current outbreak. We could be dealing with a new and more virulent strain of the pathogen. ![]() There could have been a new introduction of the bacterial pathogen into our cotton fields. Some of the newer varieties could be more susceptible. Beginning in 2015 and continuing into 2016, bacterial blight has been more visible in Georgia’s cotton then it has been in a number of years. ![]() Cotton growers in Georgia are understandably concerned about the impact of bacterial blight on their cotton yields. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When you exhaust the multiplicand the calculation is done. Repeat the multiplication, adding beads in each column and carrying over the remainders. Continue this process until the multiplier is exhausted.ĭropping the first digit of the multiplier there are now only 6 digits, this means we will start on 6th column over for the next multiplicand. Continue over and take 2 x 6 which is 12, this makes our 6th row +1 bead and our 5th row +2 beads. Our first calculation is 5 x 6 which we know is 30, this makes our 7th column (red) at +3 and the 6th column (yellow) left at +0. The simplicity of this 'computer' belies the complexity of computations achievable. If you're in the mood to nerd it up, check out some of the other types of abaci used over the years. This abacus is modeled after the suanpan. The main difference between the two is the Japanese abacus has one row of beads on the top deck where the Chinese has two rows, allowing the suanpan to compute to hexadecimal. Though many cultures have used the abacus throughout the years, the two most common types that exist today are the Japanese abacus (called soroban) and the Chinese abacus (called suanpan). Yet in some places, the abacus is still used as a learning tool for elementary school students and as a method of calculation for traders. Today, much of the world now embraces new technology and the once mighty abacus has been replaced with solar-powered calculators and excel spreadsheets. Almost any sliding tool used to record calculations can be called an abacus, and over the years there has been many iterations and adaptations of this classic calculator.įor centuries the abacus ruled as the calculator for traders and merchants the world over. The abacus is a calculation tool that works by sliding beads along columns to represent numbers and to compute arithmetic. ![]() ![]() ![]() ・We unveiled it at the 20 technology conference of Japan Canners Association and the 2013 technology conference of Japan Packaging Institute.
